Abijou Clinic Introduces Summer Care for Oily Yet Dehydrated Skin and the Importance of Skin Barrier Care

Through WomanSense, Abijou Clinic introduced the causes of and proper care methods for oily yet dehydrated skin, a condition in which increased sebum production and insufficient moisture within the skin occur at the same time during summer. Abijou Clinic explained that high temperatures, UV exposure, and air-conditioned environments during summer may weaken the skin barrier and reduce moisture within the skin. The clinic emphasized the importance of managing not only sebum but also the skin barrier and the skin’s internal moisture environment. Dr. Deokha Kim, Director of Abijou Clinic Gangnam, explained, “During summer, Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) can be depleted more rapidly, so rather than focusing solely on sebum control, it is important to care for both the skin’s internal moisture environment and the skin barrier. The oilier the skin appears, the more important it is to check its internal moisture level.” Abijou Clinic also noted that, depending on an individual’s skin condition, Skin Booster treatments may help improve the skin’s moisture environment and skin barrier. It is important to select an appropriate treatment and care method after a thorough consultation with a medical professional and a skin assessment.
